This document describes how to use the Page Version Compare screen in GimCore to review and compare different versions of a page, identify changes, and understand the evolution of its content. This screen is primarily a viewing and analysis tool, facilitating content governance and retrieval of historical states.
To access the Page Version Compare screen, navigate to the Pages menu from the left-hand navigation. Select the specific page you wish to inspect and then choose the version comparison option. Alternatively, when reviewing a page's version history, direct links to the compare screen will be provided for specific version pairs.
The Page Version Compare screen presents two distinct versions of a page side-by-side, highlighting the differences between them. This allows administrators to quickly assess modifications, additions, and deletions made between selected page states.
The main area of this screen is dedicated to the side-by-side comparison. Textual differences are typically highlighted using visual cues (e.g., green for additions, red for deletions, blue for modifications) to make changes immediately apparent. Administrators can scroll through both versions simultaneously to ensure alignment and accurate comparison of content blocks, fields, and other page elements.
The Page Version Compare screen is a read-only utility. It does not provide options to directly Add, Edit, or Delete page versions from this interface. Its sole purpose is to visualize changes. To manage page versions (e.g., to revert to a previous version), administrators must navigate to the specific page's version history screen, typically accessible from the main page editing interface. However, understanding the changes presented here is crucial for making informed decisions on version control and content updates.
