Page Categories define how pages are organized and can be configured with specific workflows and notification schemes. To access the Page Categories management screen, navigate to the Pages menu from the left-hand navigation and select Categories.
Upon successful navigation, the Categories screen will display a data table listing all existing page categories, along with options to manage them.
Page Categories Data Table Overview 📊
The data table on the Categories screen provides a comprehensive view of all configured page categories. Each row represents a unique category with the following columns:
- Name: Displays the unique identifier and title for the page category.
- Description: Provides a brief explanation or purpose of the category.
- Workflow: Indicates the workflow scheme associated with this page category. The workflow determines the lifecycle stages and approval processes for pages assigned to this category.
- Notify Scheme: Shows the notification scheme applied to this category. This scheme dictates who receives notifications for events related to pages within this category (e.g., page creation, updates, approvals).
- Actions: Contains inline action buttons for managing individual page categories.
- 📝 Edit: Click the pencil icon to modify the details of an existing page category.
- 🗑️ Delete: Click the trash icon to remove a page category from the system.
Creating a New Page Category ➕
To add a new page category:
- Click the Add New button, typically located in the page header.
- A Create New Category modal dialog will appear. Provide the following information:
- Name: Enter a unique and descriptive name for the new page category. This field is mandatory.
- Description: Provide an optional, detailed description clarifying the purpose or usage of this category.
- Workflow: Select an existing workflow scheme from the dropdown list. This workflow will govern the state transitions and approvals for pages associated with this category.
- Notify Scheme: Select an existing notification scheme from the dropdown list. This scheme will define the recipient groups for notifications related to pages in this category.
- Click the Create button to save the new page category.
Editing an Existing Page Category ✏️
To modify an existing page category:
- Locate the desired page category in the data table.
- Click the 📝 Edit icon in the Actions column for that specific category.
- An Edit Category modal dialog will appear, pre-populated with the current category details.
- Update the Name, Description, Workflow, or Notify Scheme fields as required.
- Click the Update button to apply your changes.
Deleting a Page Category 🗑️
To remove a page category from GimCore:
- Locate the page category you wish to delete in the data table.
- Click the 🗑️ Delete icon in the Actions column for that category.
- A confirmation dialog will appear, prompting you to confirm the deletion. This is a critical step, as deleting a category is irreversible and affects any pages currently assigned to it.
- Click Delete to confirm and remove the category, or Cancel to abort the operation.
